“Now, and Forevermore” by Brandi Milne
I’m about to open my newest body of work that’s been four years in the making, and I’m finding myself challenged to find the perfect words to sum it all up!
“Now, and Forevermore” (acrylic on wood) is my title show piece, and is a self portrait that sings a song of the resilience of the human spirit. A theme I find ever-so museful. A faithful fountain of inspiration never ending. The human spirit. That thing within that shines new after life relentlessly drags its song in the mud without promise of any relief. That thing that shines new and generates hope even in the face of all that goes on in this world. After darkness finds the light. After heartache finds healing. After devastation finds drive to rebuild. That human quality that no-one can explain, yet we all feel at some point or another in our lives. The resilience of this human spirit I did my best to portray here, and in most (if not all!) of the new works that make up my upcoming exhibition. (Can you find her song?)
Now, and Forevermore (28 paintings and 15 illustrations) is my personal dance with the darkness I have experienced over the past few years, and the witnessing of the vibrant spirit that shines through so loyal to my humanity.
Please join me this coming Saturday at the gorgeous Corey Helford Gallery in celebrating the awe-inspiring aliveness and resilience of our very humanity! Doors open from 7-11pm, free to the public!! This exhibition runs through June 20th, see the gallery website for info.
